Psoriasis is a skin disorder that is caused by the immune system sending faulty signals to the skin cells to rapidly grow. There are five types of psoriasis: guttate, inverse, pustular, erythrodermic and the most common, silvery-white plaques usually on the elbows and knees.
The cause of psoriasis is not fully understood. On hypothesis is that psoriasis is mediated by the immune system. Skin cells grow rapidly because they are stimulated in some way by the immune system.
Psoriasis can be exacerbated by stress, infections, changes in season, certain medications, bowel changes, alcohol consumption, smoking and cosmetics.
There are a number of different treatment options for psoriasis. Typically topical agents are used for mild disease, phototherapy for moderate disease, and systemic agents for severe disease. Psoriasis symptoms can be improved with in diet periods, suggesting a link with the bowels (click here).
Select dietary supplements and herbs also may improve psoriasis symptoms. Interestingly, hypnotherapy may also be effective.

After experiencing sciatic pain on the left side, I had surgery to solve the problem. Shortly thereafter, I began to have sciatic pain down the other side. I assumed that surgery was necessary again. After beginning the (ALT-MED) program and doing the exercises for a couple of months, the pain was gone. I have been pain free for over six months.
